Libya and Italy agree to strengthen youth cooperation between the two countries.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 15, 2023 (Lana): Libya and Italy agreed to expand youth activity and develop a joint cooperation memorandum within the framework of the peace treaty between the two countries to implement youth exchange programs, educational programs, youth tourism, capacity building, and strengthen relations between the national youth institutions of the two countries.
This came at the conclusion of the meeting of the GNU-Minister of Youth, Fath Allah Al-Zani, yesterday in Tripoli with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, the diplomatic delegation, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of “Rawasi Abdel Jalil,” director of the Strategic Planning Office and responsible for the international cooperation file in the Office of the Minister of Youth.
The Ministry of Youth stated on its Facebook page today that the Minister expressed his aspiration for real cooperation steps in the area of youth development between both countries, especially with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s confirmation during her visit to Tripoli that “Italy’s desire for cooperation is great, but the joint steps in the youth area are still ashamed,” as she stated.
"We seek to activate the treaty of friendship between the two countries in the youth and cultural areas, in addition to reviewing the programs that the Ministry has implemented since its establishment in March 2021, which include programs in many areas, including building young leaders in the democratic area,” Al-Zani said.
For his part, Alberini affirmed his country's desire to cooperate to implement joint programs to integrate youth into spreading peace and security and to organize bilateral Libyan-Italian youth meetings.
It is noteworthy that the Libyan-Italian friendship treaty signed with the Italian government in 2008 stipulates that the two parties will deepen the traditional cultural ties and bonds of friendship that bind the two peoples and encourage direct contacts between cultural institutions and bodies in the two countries. Youth exchanges between cities and other regional institutions will also be facilitated in both countries.
