Al-Koni meets with the border guard commander.

Tripoli, November 12, 2023 (LANA) - The representative of the Presidential Council, in his capacity as Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, “Musa Al-Koni,” stressed the need to intensify efforts to secure the borders as it is considered national security.

This came during his meeting with the Commander of the Border Guard of the General Staff, Major General Nouri Sharata, who briefed him on the efforts made to secure the borders, combat smuggling, organized crime, and reduce illegal immigration.

    According to the media office of the Presidential Council, on Sunday, Major General Sharata reviewed during the meeting the problems and difficulties that hinder the work of the Border Guard, represented by the length of the border strip, which requires advanced logistical capabilities and qualified human elements to enable it to perform the tasks assigned to it.

   During the meeting, it was also agreed to support the border guards, to overcome the difficulties that hinder their work, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, and to emphasize cooperation with the countries that preceded Libya in this regard to benefit from their experience in the field of border guards, and to secure them to ensure the stability of the country, according to the same source.
