Tripoli, November 12, 2023 (LANA) - The Libyan representative to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu.
The meeting came ahead of Libya assuming the presidency of the fourth session of the conference to establish a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction early next week.
Al-Sunni said through his account on the “X” platform on Friday that the meeting “discussed current events and developments in the current situation in the region.”
Al-Sunni added, “We also discussed the preparations and arrangements before holding the conference and the proposed topics that will be covered.”
Libya also chaired the second preparatory meeting with member states to finalize the work program and agenda for the next conference scheduled to be held from November 13 to 17, according to Al-Sunni.
