Ministry of Interior: The sounds of shooting heard in Tripoli are the result of dealing with an armed group that refused to hand over the headquarters of a company in the Al-Seyahia area.

Tripoli, November 7, 2023 (LANA) - The Ministry of Interior of the National Unity Government said that the sounds of gunfire heard in the Al-Seyahia area in the capital, Tripoli, were the result of a clash between security personnel from an armed group that was present at the headquarters of a company in the area.

The Ministry explained in a statement that a joint force composed of some components of the Ministry of the Interior, based on the instructions of the Acting Minister of the Interior, headed to the headquarters of the “Al-Nasr District” Investment Company to evacuate it from the armed group that was controlling the site, based on the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The ministry added that the armed group opened fire upon the arrival of the joint security force, which was responded to and removed from the site, and all legal measures were taken in particular.

The Ministry reassured citizens that the situation in the region is stable and that it will continue to enforce the law, maintain security, and protect institutions.
