PM follows up with the Minister of Local Government on a number of local administration files.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 07, 2023 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, “Abdulhamid Dbaiba,” this morning, Tuesday, followed up on a number of local administration files with the Minister of Local Government, “Badr al-Din al-Toumi,” in the presence of the Minister of State for the Affairs of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, “Adel Jumaa.”
Government sources stated that "Dbaiba" directed, during the meeting, to discuss with municipalities the general vision for establishing provinces and contributing to activating local administration, stressing the need to coordinate efforts to activate local administration and transfer competencies to municipalities so that they, in turn, can provide services directly to citizens.
For his part, Al-Toumi presented a report on local development implemented in municipalities according to the approved allocations for the year 2022, where approval was given to implement (1,088) projects that achieve local development goals in all municipalities, stressing that they are directed to projects of a local nature in roads, water, sanitation, lighting, sports arenas, and highway maintenance, and supply of hygiene equipment.
Al-Toumi explained to the Prime Minister the difficulties facing the local revenue file, which the Ministry is working to solve, given that transferring competencies to the local authority requires national efforts.
The Minister of Local Government also briefed the Prime Minister on the executive procedures implemented by the Ministry in the field of digital transformation, which indicate the completion of the project at the end of this November, so that all procedures will be transferred to the electronic format and municipalities will be able to follow their procedures through the system, which to be launched.
