Italy confirms its readiness to provide technical support for holding elections in Libya.

Tripoli, October 24, 2023 (LANA) - Italy confirmed its readiness to provide technical and advisory support to enhance the readiness of the High National Elections Commission to implement the expected elections.

This came during a meeting with the Chairman of the High National Election Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, today, Tuesday, with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, and his accompanying delegation, at the Office of the High National Election Commission.

The Commission's information office said that the Italian delegation's visit comes within the framework of the international community's support for the democratic process in Libya, and to review the level of the Commission's readiness to implement any electoral process approved by any anticipated political settlement.

The Italian ambassador expressed his country's appreciation for the national efforts seeking to complete the elections, as well as the efforts undertaken by the Commission in dealing with the previous electoral stages.
