The Public Prosecution orders the provisional detention of the financial controller attributed to the Ministry of Health due to him receiving financial bribes.

Tripoli, October 22, 2023 (LANA) - The Public Prosecution ordered this evening, Sunday, the detention of the financial controller assigned to the Ministry of Health in the National Unity Government, pending investigation, due to his receiving bribes in exchange for paying the price of service contracts provided by the implementation tools to the sector.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in a statement on its official Facebook page that the prosecution had conducted an investigation into the report submitted by the Deterrence Service for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime against the financial affairs supervisor in the health sector who deviated from the requirements of the public job, by deliberately requesting bribes in exchange for facilitating the disbursement of funds. The price of service contracts provided by implementation tools for the benefit of the sector.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the investigations proved that the official’s behavior was deviant and he was far from the duties of the job, as he received 40,000 dinars and 10,000 US dollars. He received a motor vehicle worth 195 thousand dinars, in exchange for signing financial transactions for stakeholders, and thus the Public Prosecution ended up ordering his provisional detention pending investigation.
