America urges its citizens in Libya to be cautious due to the situation in the Gaza Strip

Tripoli, October 18, 2023 (LANA) - The United States Embassy in Libya called on its citizens to be cautious after press reports appeared about protests in Libya about what is happening in Gaza, without prior announcement.

The embassy recommended that American nationals in Libya avoid demonstrations and crowds, monitor local media for breaking events, and prepare to adjust travel plans.

The embassy called on its citizens to remain strongly alert, exercise good situational awareness near protests and demonstrations, and review travel warnings issued by the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Embassy indicated that it is not aware of specific, credible threats against US citizens in Libya at this time, and urges travelers to and from Libya to register in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts and to facilitate their location in emergency situations.
