Libya calls on Europe to put forward effective and flexible visions to deal with the major transformations taking place in the region
Pulbished on:Algeria, October 17, 2023 (LANA) - Libya called, on Tuesday, on the Nordic and African countries to put forward more effective and flexible visions to deal with the major transformations taking place in the region and the regional and international surroundings.
This came in a speech by the person in charge of managing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Al-Taher Al-Baour, at the 20th session of the meetings of foreign ministers of African-North European countries held in Algeria during the period from 16-18 October.
Al-Baour said that the holding of the session comes at a time when large areas of the world are experiencing a dangerous escalation in the level of violence and growing threats that affect all our peoples at all security, economic and social levels.
He stressed that the meeting represents an opportunity to strengthen dialogue on the foundations of common values related to justice, freedom and humanity, and to establish cooperation across continents and borders that supports diversity and establish peace and stability.
He expressed Libya's aspiration that the European partners in the north of the European continent would have a strategic orientation in understanding the causes of tension and conflict on the African continent and be supportive of visions that deal with the problems of education, poverty, political unrest, and renewed conflicts within the African continent.
The person in charge of managing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Libya today continues with all determination in its efforts to overcome the stage of division and wars and take advanced steps towards protecting its unity and ending the transitional stages through national elections in accordance with fair and impartial laws and to regain its vital position in the development map and paths for establishing peace in African countries.
Al-Baour called on those who described them as (countries well-established in democracy and with a long history of protecting freedoms and rights) not to contradict themselves and take double standards and a violent approach towards our region and countries.
He noted that the aggression against the Palestinian people puts the world before a historical situation in which it did not side with the values of justice and peace in the face of a conflict that has not been settled, despite all the resolutions of international legitimacy and despite the suffering of the Palestinian people over the past decades.
