Algiers, October 17, 2023 (Lana): The GNU Minister of Interior, Imad Trabelsi, discussed yesterday with the Algerian Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, Ibrahim Murad, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest.

This came during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Algerian Interior Ministry in Algiers as part of a two-day visit by Trabelsi at the head of a delegation, according to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Interior.

The ministry added that the meeting focused on confronting common security challenges and combating organized and cross-border crime such as drug smuggling and illegal migration, as well as coordination regarding the movement of people between the two countries.

The Ministry explained that the Algerian Minister recalled the strong historical relations between the two peoples, which are characterized by good neighbourliness, stressing that this visit will open new prospects for cooperation, especially by strengthening them by updating the relevant bilateral agreements.

For his part, Al-Trabelsi stressed Libya's desire for cooperation between the two countries' interior ministries to ensure the achievement of the desired goals, according to the ministry.
