Al-Manfi stresses the necessity of protecting civilians and rejecting the displacement of Gaza residents under any pretext.

Tripoli, October 15, 2023 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, “Mohamed Al-Manfi,” stressed the necessity of protecting civilians, respecting international law, and rejecting the displacement of the population of Gaza under any pretext because of the danger it poses to humanity and Arab and Libyan national security.

This came during Al-Manfi’s reception of the Italian Ambassador to Libya, “Gianluca Alberini,” in his office in Tripoli on Sunday.

The Council's media office stated that the meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, followed up on efforts to open the air route between Tripoli and Rome, and combat illegal immigration.

During the meeting, the Italian ambassador renewed his condolences to Al-Manfi and the Libyan people as a result of the torrents and floods that swept the city of Derna and the Jabal Alahkdar regions last September, indicating support for the vision of the Presidential Council to unify reconstruction efforts in all affected areas, stressing Italy’s support for the work of the Supreme Finance Committee.

In turn, the President of the Presidential Council thanked the Italian President and the Prime Minister for providing support and aid and responding to the request for international assistance to search for missing persons and assist citizens in the affected areas, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the political file.
