UNSMIL receives a copy of electoral laws and stresses the need for solutions to be consensual.

Tripoli, October 7, 2023 (Lana) The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced on Thursday an official memorandum from the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Agila Saleh, that included the approved electoral laws by the council.

The UNSMIL emphasized that these solutions must be consensual and implementable to ensure a smooth electoral process and sustainable peace and stability in Libya, expressing its respect for the Libyan sovereign institutions and the national ownership of political solutions.

The Mission expressed its commitment to working with all Libyan stakeholders to reach a compromise, including the formation of a unified government.

The Mission affirmed that it will, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, assess the implementability of the laws and share the findings with the Libyan people.
