German Ambassador to Libya: Solidarity and cohesion among Libyans during the Derna floods shows a clear desire to achieve national unity.

Tripoli, October 5, 2023 (LANA) - The German Ambassador to Libya, “Michael Unmacht,” confirmed that what the Libyans expressed during the flood disaster that swept Derna and some cities in the eastern region of solidarity and cohesion shows the clear desire of the Libyan people to achieve national unity.

This came during his speech at the celebration - organized by the German Embassy in Libya, in the capital, Tripoli, on Tuesday evening, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the unification of the two Germans, in the presence of Libyan officials, heads and ambassadors of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya - in which he explained that celebrating the day of the unification of the two Germans represents a true symbol for the German people, for unity, freedom and democracy.

Ambassador Michael Unmacht said that we see in Libya a clear desire from the Libyan people to achieve national unity, solidarity and cohesion, which they expressed during the flood disaster that swept some cities in the eastern region of Libya, stressing his country’s support for the Libyan people at this stage so that their dream becomes a reality. In fact, it urges the international community and all countries involved in the Libyan file to work on this.

  In turn, Al-Taher Al-Baour, who is in charge of running the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, praised in his ceremonial speech the relations of friendship and cooperation that bind Libya and Germany.
