The UN mission and Qatar call for reaching a political agreement regarding the Libyan elections

Doha, October 4, 2023 (LANA) - The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, and the Minister of State in the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, called on the Libyan leaders to reach a political agreement regarding the elections.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya said, in a statement, that Batili and the Qatari official reviewed in Doha the developments in the Libyan political process and called for unity of ranks and reaching a political agreement on the elections to reunite Libyan institutions.

The two sides urged regional and international partners to continue their individual and collective support for the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to organize the elections.

Batili expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by Qatar to the residents of Derna, reiterating the call for Libyan leaders to unite efforts in responding to the crisis.
