The Presidential Council, the High Council of State, and the unity government are discussing the repercussions of the Derna disaster and the development of the south.

Tripoli, September 27, 2023 (LANA) - The tripartite meeting, which included the representative of the Presidential Council, Musa Al-Koni, the head of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, and the Vice-President of the High Council of State, Masoud Abid, focused on the repercussions of the Derna disaster, and the efforts made to recover the bodies of the victims by specialized technical teams in cooperation with the teams of countries that have harnessed their capabilities to support Libya in its ordeal.

The Presidential Media Office stated that the Prime Minister reviewed proposals for rebuilding the city, the affected areas, mechanisms to support the people to return to life there, and the steps taken to care for the displaced families and support them psychologically.

  The meeting with the Prime Minister also touched on the situation in the city of Murzuq, stressing the need to restore services there in coordination with the relevant authorities to enable the displaced residents to return to rebuild it, as well as the regions of the south, which suffer from low services in many areas, and work to overcome them.

  According to the media office, Al-Koni and Obaid stressed the necessity of resuming the suspended vital projects in the south, and establishing development projects in it in order to create spatial development that guarantees its stability, so that it can obtain its right from the country’s wealth like other regions. .
