Hammad calls on the international community to participate in the Derna reconstruction conference.

Benghazi, September 22, 2023 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Libyan government designated by the House of Representatives, “Osama Hammad,” called on the international community to participate in the activities of the conference for the reconstruction of the city of Derna and the cities and regions affected by floods in eastern Libya, which is scheduled to be held on the tenth of next October.

Hammad explained, according to a statement issued yesterday, Thursday, that the invitation came in response to the desire of the people of the city of Derna and all the people of the affected cities and regions, who demanded that the reconstruction process be under the supervision and implementation of international companies capable of achieving the highest modern standards of safety and security.

“Hamad” set the tenth of next October to organize the conference in the city of Derna, and present modern and rapid visions for the reconstruction of the city and the affected cities and regions in eastern Libya, including rebuilding roads and dams that protect cities and regions from any natural disasters.

Hammad noted that his government took all necessary steps within its available capabilities to address the devastating repercussions resulting from the torrential and flood disaster, which led to a large number of victims and unprecedented destruction of the infrastructure of the city of Derna and its surrounding areas.

Hammad renewed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of all brotherly and friendly countries and international and local organizations in providing support, assistance, relief, rescue and recovery of victims.
