The Arab League welcomes the announcement of the reunification of the Central Bank of Libya.
Pulbished on:Cairo, August 21, 2023 (LANA) – The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States welcomed today, the announcement of the reunification of the Central Bank of Libya, by the governor in Tripoli and his deputy in Benghazi, yesterday, Sunday, after nearly a decade of division, looking forward to this being reflected in a positive step for the economy and the living conditions of Libyan citizens across the country.
Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League, said that it is hoped that this important step will represent an incentive to unify the rest of the Libyan state institutions, which have suffered greatly as a result of their division over the years, and that this development will put an end to the issue of transparency and fairness in the distribution of national wealth revenues, which has always been a turning point in fundamental disagreement between the political actors.
The Spokesman pointed out the importance of this announcement being an encouraging step for all actors in Libya, to revitalize the political process and move it forward towards holding the expected presidential and parliamentary elections, in accordance with electoral laws that guarantee compliance and acceptance by all of its results later, in a way that produces unified Libyan national governing institutions.
The speaker also renewed the support of the League of Arab States for every sincere effort aimed at unifying the word of the Libyans, uniting their ranks, ensuring the country’s unity and territorial integrity, and not interfering in its affairs, and expressed the Secretary-General’s readiness to direct the relevant joint Arab action institutions, to provide advice and technical assistance to the Central Bank of Libya to move forward in its unification procedures.
