Working Group on Disarmament and Reintegration in Libya meets in Tunisia.

Tunis, August 21, 2023 (Lana) The UNSMIL organized in Tunisia, on Friday, the 3rd quarterly meeting of the working group on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) in Libya.
The mission stated on its Facebook page that the meeting was attended by several international partners and teams of the UN in Libya.
The meeting reviewed progress in support of a pre-DDR process, especially in dialogue, training, the release of detainees, and reconciliation.
It also discussed entry points for next steps, notably with the involvement of Libyan stakeholders.
The participants stressed the critical importance of conflict prevention and protecting civilians and also commended community leaders' efforts towards de-escalation and restoring calm in the affected areas, in reference to the clashes that took place in Tripoli last week.
