Tripoli, August 11, 2023  (LANA) - Head of the national unity government, Abdul Hamid al-Dbaiba, has reaffirmed his refusal to settle illegal immigrants in Libya.

Al-Dbaiba said on his Facebook page, I confirm once again that we will not allow migrants to settle in Libya, as the laws of our country are capable of regulating everything related to the entry of foreigners into it.

The Prime Minister called on the European Union and neighboring countries to cooperate with Libya and support its efforts in this regard, stressing that Libyan national security is a red line and we will not allow it to be crossed under any circumstances, in order to preserve the country and its demographic map.

Dbaiba expressed his support for the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior officers with their counterparts in Tunisia to protect the common borders, clear them of illegal immigrants, and facilitate the movement of citizens of the two countries to enter and exit in a regular manner.

Al-Dbaiba also affirmed the government's keenness to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants, and to facilitate their return to their countries from which they came, pointing to the continuation of targeting immigrant smuggling dens and striking them everywhere.
