Tripoli, July 30, 2023 (Lana): The U.S. Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, said that the U.S. joins international partners in support of UN mediation in Libya.
This came in a tweet by Norland.
Norland reposted the joint statement by the U.S., France, Germany, Italy, and UK to reiterate its support for the UN Special Envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, to engage all Libyan institutions and key stakeholders, based on the work of the 6+6 committee, including by addressing all contested elements of the electoral framework in order to make it implementable, securing the necessary inclusive political agreement on the path to elections, and enabling a level playing field for all candidates.
