Statement: The President of the Supreme Judicial Council condemns the storming incident and calls on the Public Prosecutor to investigate the incident.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 27, 2023 (LANA) - The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, "Miftah Al-Qawi," asked the Public Prosecutor to start investigation procedures regarding the storming of the Council's headquarters yesterday morning in the capital, Tripoli.
This came in a video statement broadcast by the Supreme Judicial Council on its Facebook page for a meeting of its members headed by Counselor "Miftah Al-Qawi" at its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, yesterday evening, Wednesday, after what it called the storming of the headquarters.
Al-Qawi said that the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, headed by him at its headquarters in Tripoli, came after he was subjected to the brutal storming that took place that morning, indicating that the Council records the harshest expressions of condemnation, disapproval and denunciation, and requests the Public Prosecutor to take the necessary investigation measures regarding this incident.
Al-Qawi reassured all Libyans that the Supreme Judicial Council is fine, stressing that the council session is the beginning of Law No. (22) of 2023 issued by the House of Representatives today and the decision to name the head of the Supreme Judicial Council in accordance with the new law, in reference to an amendment that the House of Representatives announced its approval earlier that day.
The statement said that the Supreme Judicial Council exists, one unified, strong, and condemns this heinous act, and assigns the Public Prosecutor to exercise his powers in investigating the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
