Tripoli, July 17, 2023 (LANA) - The patrols of the Border Guard Service, Al-Assa sector, managed to rescue and aid a number of illegal immigrants, including women and children, who were expelled from Tunisia towards the Libyan lands.

The Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Unity published a video on its official page, showing the rescue operations carried out by border guards for these immigrants.

The video also included testimonies of a number of rescued migrants about their being forcibly expelled from Tunisia, especially from Sfax, leaving them in the open desert and forcing them to enter Libyan territory.

One of the immigrants said, "The Tunisian security forces expelled them from their places of residence, beat them, and forced them to sleep in the open and stay for long days under the scorching sun.

Another immigrant reported that the Tunisian security services stopped him and his wife, despite having his identification papers and entering through one of the country's airports legally, but they beat them and took them to the desert on the border with Libya.

The video clips showed that the border guards, "Al-Asa Sector", rescued and aided these immigrants, as they were provided with first aid and medicine.

The relief, which was provided in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, included first aid and providing the injured irregular migrants with food, clothing, and temporary shelter, until the necessary measures are taken against them.
