(Al-Hwaij) discusses with the British Deputy Ambassador the return of British companies and the resumption of investment projects.

Tripoli, July 17, 2023 (LANA) - The Minister of Economy and Trade, "Mohammed Al-Hwaij," discussed today, Monday in Tripoli, with the Deputy Ambassador of the British Kingdom to Libya, "Katrina Wild," a mechanism for the return of British companies and the resumption of contracted investment projects in various regions.

   The ministry sources stated that the meeting, which was attended by the director of the Foreign Trade Department and the head of the international cooperation department in the ministry, reviewed the results of the British delegation's visit to the city of Benghazi and the ongoing arrangements for organizing the delegation's visit to the capital, Tripoli, during the coming period.

     Al-Hwaij stressed the importance of holding a meeting of the Libyan-British follow-up committee with the aim of developing bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, and strengthening the role of the Libyan-British Business Owners Council to organize economic and trade activities and establish a partnership between the private sector in both countries.

    For her part, Katrina expressed the United Kingdom's desire to enhance cooperation with the State of Libya in the fields of trade, investment, transportation, free zones and renewable energies, stressing the keenness of British companies to resume their activities in the State of Libya and contribute to the reconstruction and participation of the local private sector in the implementation of investment projects.

     At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance communication between the competent departments of the ministry and the commercial attaché of the British Embassy in Libya and to organize bilateral meetings that organize economic and commercial activities in both countries.
