Tripoli, July 17, 2023 (Lana) The UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, discussed yesterday with the Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul-Hamid Al-Dabaiba, the latest political developments and human rights situation in Libya.
Bathily said in a tweet that the meeting discussed ways to hold successful elections based on the draft laws produced by the 6+6 joint committee.
He stressed the importance of preserving social cohesion for the stability and prosperity of Libya and enabling the holding of national elections.
"We agreed that all actors must work in a spirit of compromise to realize the democratic aspirations of the Libyan people." Bathily added.
