High Council for Energy Affairs approves two tripartite plans of NOC and GECOL.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 05, 2023 (LANA) - The High Council for Energy Affairs held its sixth regular meeting at the Audit Bureau, to discuss the two tripartite plans of the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company, which aim to increase oil production to 2 million barrels, and to increase energy production to (16) gigawatts, according to New and development projects and programmes.
Chairman of the Council, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, opened the meeting by thanking workers of the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company at all sites and stations for their efforts in oil production and electricity stability.
Al-Dabaiba stressed the need for continuous follow-up of the oil and electricity sectors, and unifying the efforts of state institutions to provide the appropriate conditions for implementing the approved plan.
For his part, Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat bin Qadara, gave the council a presentation of the corporation's plan (2023-2025), which aims to stabilize production, perform the necessary maintenance, and increase cooperation with international companies in order to implement the development plan that will reach production to more than 2 million barrels, in addition to raising the efficiency of the national technical personnel through training.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company, Mohamed Al-Mashai, made a presentation of the company's plan (2023-2025), which focuses on major overhauls and new production, implementing a plan to develop transmission and distribution projects, and focusing on rationalizing consumption by supplying meters and launching programmes.
Members of the Council affirmed their support for the efforts of the Foundation and the company, and the approval of the adoption of the two proposed plans, and the assignment of the budget follow-up committee and the international advisory office contracted by the State Audit Bureau to follow up the two plans and submit regular reports to the High Council for Energy Affairs.
