US ambassador confirms his country's continued support for efforts to establish a transparent and accountable mechanism for disposing of oil revenues.

 Tripoli, July 03, 2023 (LANA) - The US Ambassador and Special Envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, has expressed delight that his recent statements on Libyan oil sparked useful discussions among Libyan leaders.

Ambassador Norland said in a tweet on Twitter published by the US Embassy to Libya, “The issue of how to distribute Libya’s important oil revenues is one of the issues causing the conflict in Libya, and therefore I am pleased that my recent comments have sparked such a beneficial discussion among Libyan leaders.”

 Norland reiterated the United States' continued support for the efforts of the Presidential Council, the Libyan House of Representatives, the Government of National Unity, and others to establish a transparent and accountable mechanism for disposing of revenues.

He added, "We have always believed and declared that only Libyans are capable of deciding this issue and that no foreign parties should control it, and we have noticed real progress on this issue in recent days between the relevant institutions and we encourage the leaders to reach an agreement, and this is an opportunity to build confidence and address important and legitimate concerns about corruption and ensure that the huge revenues that The accumulation of Libya's continuous oil production benefits all Libyans.

 The US ambassador concluded his tweet by welcoming the opportunity to exchange views with Libyan leaders on this important aspect of Libya's future, he said.
