Al-Koni praises the role of local mayors in the national reconciliation project.

Tripoli, June 19, 2023 (LANA) - The representative of the Presidential Council, "Musa Al-Koni," praised the role played by the local mayors for being the first point of contact with citizens.

This came during his meeting today with representatives of the mayors of Libya, who reviewed before him the results of their forum that was held during the past two days in Tripoli with the participation of 1,300 local mayors from all regions of Libya, and their vision in establishing an association that would be the mouthpiece and defend their rights, and contribute to the success of the national reconciliation project that was launched by the Presidential Council.

Al-Koni also expressed his confidence that local mayors will have a prominent role in the national reconciliation project, as they are the largest social base closest to citizens, stressing the support of the Presidential Council for all their efforts to serve the citizen.

  The deputy reviewed his vision calling for the return of the governorate system, which ensures that they obtain their rights, by handing over their budgets to manage their projects, through model governorates in accordance with the standards in force in the countries of the world, in order for the central government to devote itself to performing its role in pursuing foreign policy and state affairs, and assigning a legal person at the head of each governorate, from outside it, grants them full powers to manage its affairs.
