France's delegate calls for everyone's participation in creating the atmosphere for transparent elections in Libya.

New York, June 19, 2023 (LANA) - France's representative to the UN Security Council affirmed her country's support for the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, to achieve the goals of the transitional processes, calling for everyone's contribution to creating an atmosphere for transparent elections in Libya.

She also expressed, in her speech before a session of the Security Council on Libya today, Monday, the support of the Electoral Commission in Libya, stressing that political legitimacy in Libya is indispensable.

  She said that holding elections in Libya is within reach, and this requires the mobilization of Libyan and international parties to enable the Libyans to choose their leaders.

The French delegate added that her country welcomes the work of the (6 + 6) committee, and encourages the Libyan parties to facilitate electoral laws as soon as possible.

She also affirmed the continued support of the United Nations, the (5 + 5) committee, and the chiefs of staff in Libya, and said that France is concerned about human rights violations in Libya, of which migrants are the first victims.
