Arrest of a cross-border gang that kidnapped girls from Nigeria and brought them to Libya.

Tripoli 8 May 2023 (Lana) The Investigations Agency in Tripoli detained a gang that kidnapped girls from Nigeria and brought them to Libya in a crime considered transnational.

The Ministry of Interior said in a video published on its Facebook page that on 5/5/2023, information was received by the investigation members of the Criminal Investigation Office of the Tripoli Security Directorate, stating that there is a girl who escaped from the location of a gang that exploits girls of Nigerian nationality and who are minors in prostitution for money.

The ministry confirmed that the girl attended accompanied by a consular employee of the Criminal Investigation Office, Tripoli, to file a complaint in this regard.

The ministry added that after interrogating the girl, she reported that she is studying in secondary school and is 17 years old. She was kidnapped along with other girls in front of her school in Nigeria and brought to Libya via desert and illegal roads.
