During his speech at the Security Council session on Libya, the Russian delegate made it clear that the most important element is making progress in a sustainable settlement in Libya in the context of a controlled political process that is developed and determined by the Libyans themselves without external interference, stressing that the elections represent the cornerstone of this process.
The representative of Russia urged the Libyan parties to be flexible and ready to reach a reasonable agreement of opinions, stressing the importance of the participation of all political forces without any discrimination in the elections.
The Russian delegate stressed the need to intensify efforts to integrate all military components into a unified national army, pointing to the importance of political will in this context.
He also expressed his country's desire to eliminate all foreign presence in the Libyan lands, urging the leadership of the liaison committees with neighboring countries, stressing the need for the withdrawal of all non-Libyan armed forces and military units from Libya in a gradual and coordinated manner in order to maintain balance in the field.
