The 36th ordinary session of the African Union Heads of State Summit kicks off in the Ethiopian capital (Addis Ababa).

Addis Ababa, February 18, 2023 (LANA) - Today, Saturday, the work of the Summit of the Heads of State of the African Union in its regular session "36" began in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, in the presence of a member of the Presidential Council (Abdullah Al-Lafi).

The two-day summit will discuss the agenda, which includes various items, including political developments, the effects of droughts, floods, and severe weather conditions that scientists link to climate change caused by fossil fuel emissions.

The agenda also includes a discussion of the African continent's access to permanent seats in the United Nations Security Council and in the economic G20 group.
