Aqila and Al-Mishri affirm their keenness to achieve a consensual constitutional basis conducive to presidential and parliamentary elections

Cairo, 5 January, 2023 (LANA) - Speakers of the House of Representatives and the State House, Aqila Saleh and Khaled Al-Mashri, have announced their agreement that the joint committee on the constitutional document refer the document to the two houses for approval in accordance with the system of each house.

This came in a joint statement issued, Thursday, after the talks held between "Aqila" and "Al-Mashri" under Egyptian auspices, in which they clarified their keen interest to achieve a consensual constitutional basis to reach the presidential and parliamentary elections.

The joint statement - which was announced at a press conference between the Speakers of the House of Representatives and the HCS, in the presence of the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, Hanafi Jabali - stipulated the development of a clear and specific road map to be announced later; To complete all necessary procedures to complete the electoral process, whether related to the foundations and laws, or related to executive procedures, and the unification of institutions.

The joint statement thanked Egypt for hosting and providing the appropriate atmosphere for conducting the constitutional track talks that led to the agreement.

 It also praised the role of international and local parties, led by the United Nations Support Mission to Libya, represented by the head of the mission, Abdoulaye Bathily" and friendly and brotherly countries seeking stability of Libya and its territorial integrity.
