Cairo, 5 January , 2023 (LANA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqهla Saleh, said that the elections are the goal and will be possible after full agreement on the laws regulating them between the House of Representatives and the state.

Saleh added, in a joint press conference with the President of the State Council, Khaled Al-Mishri, in the presence of the Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, Thursday, in Cairo, that the elections will be possible when the logistical and security measures are available, stressing the need for a unified authority to conduct elections.

Saleh indicated that reaching this consensus on the road map will take place during a meeting in a region inside Libya.

For his part, despite revealing the consensus between the two houses regarding the draft constitutional document, "Al-Mashri" repeated his statement, with the exception of one or two items that he did not disclose.

"Al-Mashri" said that it was agreed to draft electoral laws in full agreement between the two houses, but he added, "In the event that this does not happen, the laws will be subject to a referendum and the opinion of the people, the source of the authorities, will be heard."

Al-Mashri described this stage as "very advanced," saying, "We ended a lot of controversy and were able to put the cart on the track of elections and reach it as quickly as possible."
