Al-Dabaiba participates in meeting of the General Assembly of the Sahel and Sahara Bank for Investment and Trade.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 19 December, 2022 (Lana) - Head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid al-Dabiba, participated Monday, in the ordinary General Assembly meeting of the Sahel and Sahara Bank for Investment and Trade, which was held in the capital, Tripoli.
Government sources stated that the meeting was held in the presence of the President of the General Assembly of the Sahel and Sahara Bank, Minister of Finance, Khaled Al-Mabrouk, members of the General Assembly, finance ministers from various African countries, and members of the Bank's Board of Directors representing the State of Libya, including the Minister of Youth, Fatah Al-Zani, in addition to the Minister of Economy and trade, Mohamed Al-Huwaij, one of the founders of the bank.
The sources stated that Al-Dabaiba stressed in the meeting's speech that the Government of National Unity had taken all necessary measures to return the executive secretariat of the bank to work from its headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, indicating that this meeting, which is held for the first time since 2009 in Libya, falls within the framework of the role of the country is in promoting cooperation between the countries of the Sahel and the Sahara.
It also falls within the framework of supporting this regional bank in achieving its objectives, including financing development and investment, and supporting mutual trade between the member states of the bank.
The prime minister praised the bank's effective role and the positive results achieved in the last two years in light of the events and conditions that the region has experienced in the past decade, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made to face all challenges and reach the turning point and achieve the desired benefit.
It is noteworthy that the bank is a regional financial institution affiliated to the Community of Sahel-Saharan States, with its main headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, and was established according to the agreement signed in 1999 from the Treaty establishing the Community.
