Tripoli, 12 December 2022 (Lana)  The Presidency of the House of Representatives called on the Attorney General on Monday to commence legal proceedings against everyone involved in the (kidnapping) of Libyan citizen Abu Ajaila Mohamed Massoud and extradite him to foreign parties against the background of the Lockerbie case.

In an official letter addressed to the Attorney General, the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives referred to the conclusion of the House in its regular meeting on November 22 by voting to prepare a resolution expressing its categorical rejection of all ongoing attempts to reopen the Lockerbie file for political reasons, to blackmail the State of Libya, and to prosecute those who are involved in reopening the file on charges of high treason, and to prosecute those involved in the arrest of citizen Abu Ajaila Muhammad Masoud and to consider the consequences of his detention null and void.

The Office noted that this case had been settled with the US government previously under a formal agreement which resulted in the lack of criminal responsibility of the Libyan state and the compensation of those affected by this incident materially.
