Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives meets the Consul of Italy in Benghazi.
Pulbished on:Benghazi, 12 December 2022 (Lana) Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Youssef Al-Agouri, discussed with the Consul of Italy in Benghazi Francesco Saverio di Luigi a number of issues of common interest, most notably facilitating the travel procedures for Libyan citizens to Italy, and the fishing file between the two countries, in addition to joint cooperation programs. The spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Bleiheg said that Al-Agouri stressed importance of an Italian consulate in the city of Benghazi, and the need to develop a program to support the teaching of the Italian language in response to the decision of the Ministry of Education, to include the Italian language as an optional language in Libyan schools, pointing out that Italy is friendly to all Libyans.
Al-Agouri also stressed need to work on the Libyan-Italian friendship agreement, as well as the resumption of work on the coastal road linking east and west, stressing the interest in following up the issue of Libyan youth imprisoned in Italy, expressing his desire to meet his counterpart in the Italian Parliament to discuss and strengthen relations between the two councils. The Italian consul highlighted during the meeting the deep relations between the two countries and his keenness to follow up on issues of common interest within the scope of his competence.
