Nigerien President affirms support for Libyan initiative to establish National Security Council for Sahel-Saharan States.

Niamey, 8 December 2022 (Lana) The President of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, received on Thursday afternoon at the Presidential Palace in the Nigerien capital, Niamey, the Libyan National Security Adviser, Ibrahim Bouchenaf, and his accompanying delegation.

President Mohamed Bazoum discussed with Chancellor Bouchenaf his initiative to establish a national security council in the 27 countries of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD).

President Bazoum affirmed his support for the Libyan project to establish the Council, pointing out that he will work with his fellow heads of state, to make the initiative a success.

 Bazoum stressed his country's interest in sustaining peace within the Libyan state, pointing out that the stability of Libya will lead to the stability of the region. Bazoum highlighted the deep relationship between the two countries and the importance of strengthening consultation and coordination between the two sides, stressing that Niger will spare no effort to restore stability to Libya.

The Libyan National Security Advisor expressed his gratitude for the warm reception received by the Libyan delegation, praising highlighting the deep historical relations between the two brotherly countries.
