The Presidential Council launches an initiative to overcome the political impasse and achieve national consensus.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 8 December 2022 (Lana) The Presidential Council announced the launch of a political initiative to resolve the crisis in Libya entitled (The Presidential Council's approach to overcome the political impasse and achieve national consensus).
In its approach, the Presidential Council said the initiative is launched through a consultative meeting between the three councils (the Presidential Council – the House of Representatives and the High Council of State) in coordination with the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General, which prepares for a constitutional dialogue as a priority to end the transitional phases, in which the initiatives, ideas and visions put forward by parties and national forces to the Presidential Council are included.
According to the Presidency Council, the initiative is consistent with the provisions of the roadmap issued by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum governing the phase.
The Presidential Council attributed its launch of the initiative to the moral responsibility placed on it, and its keenness to achieve consensus between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.
It also aims to urge the setup of a constitutional basis, which enables parliamentary and presidential elections, and addresses the outstanding controversial points, in light of the continued stalemate in holding a referendum on the draft constitution under the tenth amendment to the Constitutional Declaration and the Hurghada Agreement, which was made by the two chambers under the auspices of the United Nations, and hosted by Egypt.
