Dabaiba and the US envoy discuss efforts to make the elections a success and address obstacles to its implementation.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 08, 2022 (LANA) - The meeting held by the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, "Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba" this afternoon with the US envoy to Libya, Richard Norland, and the US Chargé d'Affairs, Leslie Ordman, was devoted to discussing the efforts made to make the elections a success and work to address the obstacles facing its implementation.
The US envoy - during the meeting held at the Cabinet Office in Tripoli and attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, "Najla Al-Manqoush" and the political team at the US Embassy - welcomed the government's efforts to clarify its readiness to hold elections in the event of the constitutional basis, referring to the electoral simulation that took place last Saturday.
Norland reiterated the desire of the United States of America to support Libya in order to hold elections, as it is the main goal for all the Libyan people.
For his part, Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dabaiba stressed during the meeting the need to mobilize the international community to resolve the difficulties that impede holding the elections, the most important of which is the constitutional rule, which is still unclear.
The meeting discussed the return of the US embassy to work in Tripoli and to provide its services in a normal manner. A number of joint economic and legal files between the two countries were reviewed, and fruitful cooperation in them in order to create an effective partnership between the two countries.
The meeting also touched on discussing government spending and the steps taken by the government regarding disclosure and transparency, and working to support the steps taken in this file.
