During his meeting with Bathily: Abu Al Gheit renews demand for withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces from Libya.

  Tripoli, 31 October 2022 (Lana) The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Abul Al Gheit, renewed a demand for exit of mercenaries, foreign fighters and all foreign forces from Libyan territory.

This came during a meeting Aboul Gheit's held with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, on the sidelines of the Arab summit meetings held in Algiers, according to the spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Jamal Rushdi.

 The spokesman added that the Secretary-General affirmed support of the League of Arab States for the UN envoy, and made a presentation of the elements of the Arab position on the Libyan file, especially the need to take the necessary measures to establish a constitutional basis on which elections will be held, as well as the importance of initiating the necessary executive steps to achieve this entitlement.

For his part, the UN envoy briefed Abul Al Gheit on the moves and meetings he has held since his arrival in Libya on October 14, with Libyan political, security and economic actors and representatives of civil society, to better understand the current situation and possible solutions.
