The Ministry of Defense organizes a dialogue session on laying the foundations for the rule of law in the military institution.

Tripoli, August 24, 2022 (LANA) - The Office of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Defense in the Unity Government organized this morning the second dialogue session on laying the foundations for the rule of law in the military institution.

The Director of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Office at the Ministry, the Head of the Military Prosecution College - Tripoli, the Director of the Legal Office at the Ministry, and a group of legal advisors and officers participated in the session, in addition to the participation of the National Council for Public Freedoms and Human Rights.

The dialogue session, which was organized in cooperation with the Standing Committee for Humanitarian Affairs of the Libyan Army, reviewed efforts to build the capacity of the judicial and military police authorities in accordance with international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

The attendees stressed the need to harmonize military laws with international humanitarian law in compliance with international conventions ratified by the Libyan state, reduce impunity, and organize training courses in particular.
