Strengthening of cooperation between Libyan News Agency and Egyptian Middle East News Agency.

Cairo, 24 August 2022 (Lana) The Director General of the Libyan News Agency ‘LANA’ Ibrahim Hadiya Al-Majbari discussed with the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Editor-in-Chief of the Egyptian Middle East News Agency ‘MENA’ Ali Hassan prospects of bilateral cooperation between the news agencies of the two brotherly countries.

 The meeting, which was held on Wednesday evening at the headquarters of MENA in the Egyptian capital Cairo, reviewed the mechanisms of cooperation, especially in the fields of news exchange, exchange of experiences, visits and professional courses between the two agencies.

 The meeting also dealt with the coordination of positions and decisions between LANA and MENA in order to achieve the interests of the two agencies, especially in the Arab and international federations, including the International Union of News Agencies, the Union of Mediterranean News Agencies, the Union of Islamic Agencies and the Federation of Arab News Agencies as important members of these unions.

During this meeting, the Director General of the Libyan News Agency, stressed the importance of upgrading mutual cooperation to enhance the capacity of the two official agencies to cover all local and international news, and transmit official professional news of the Libyan state and the Egyptian state, especially in light of the media chaos and fake news from known and unknown media sites and institutions.

Al-Majbari stressed the depth of the historical relationship between the two agencies, pointing to the importance of resuming these relations in order to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries, and to benefit from the exchange of experiences through visits and holding various training courses for journalists of the two agencies.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Middle East News Agency, the official news agency of the Arab Republic of Egypt, welcomed the visit of the Director General of LANA, stressing that the official news agencies have always received great attention as they are the main source of state news.

During the meeting, Ali Hassan said MENA was ready to put all its capabilities and expertise at the disposal of the Libyan News Agency in a way that contributes to its development and enhances the capacity of the two agencies in news coverage, especially local news in the two countries professionally and responsibly.
