Orlando stresses elections first, impartiality of oil establishment, and sovereign positions.

Tripoli, 26 July, 2022 (Lana) - In a phone call with the Prime Minister-designate of the House of Representatives, Fathi Bashagha, the Special Envoy of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Libya, Nicola Orlando, stressed "priority of elections and the urgent need for a unified and comprehensive executive authority to reach it."

In series of tweets, he posted on his Twitter account, Orlando described the phone call, with Pashagha as a comprehensive and constructive call, noting his assertion during the call that “all major stakeholders must put Libya before their own interests.”

 The Italian envoy to Libya explained his agreement with Bashagha that all measures that could lead to instability and violence must be avoided.

 He also emphasized during the call on the need to preserve the neutrality of the National Oil Corporation and sovereign positions, and to use national resources in a transparent and fair manner.
