Presidential Representative (Abdullah Al-Lafi) meets with the Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Affairs in the Libyan Army and the Head of the Searching for Missing Persons
Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 25, 2022 (LANA) - The Representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, met today, Monday, with the Director of the Human Rights Office at the Ministry of Defense, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Affairs of the Libyan Army, General Dr. Hatem Kadiki , and the head of the Search for Missing Persons, Dr. Kamal Salem Abu Bakr, who provided a briefing on the Commission's work since its activation, and the successes it achieved in the file of the missing persons, supported by statistics, in addition to reviewing the difficulties facing the Commission.
The meeting, which was held at the council’s office in Tripoli, discussed activating the commission’s offices in the eastern and southern regions, by pumping new blood, giving it the necessary capabilities to operate it and continuing work to find out the fate of the detainees and the missing, and the unidentified bodies.
Al-Lafi stressed the need to work to close this thorny file, by intensifying the efforts of the relevant authorities, so that the people can know the identity of their missing relatives, and the unidentified bodies in all regions of Libya, including the file of the Tarhuna mass graves, and the graves discovered in a number of areas, explaining that the success that will be achieved in this file will contribute to the success of the national reconciliation project launched by the Presidential Council.
The representative reiterated the Presidential Council's continued support for the efforts made by the Commission, the Human Rights Office and the Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Affairs, and to overcome the difficulties it faces, in coordination with the relevant authorities so that it can perform its tasks in a professional manner.
For his part, the Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Humanitarian Affairs stressed the importance of cooperation between the Commission and the Commission, in identifying the missing, locating them, enabling their families to communicate with them, and following up on the detainees' file, expressing his hope for activating the Commission's offices in the east and south.
