In a statement leaders of the Libyan military stress their refusal to return to fighting and their support for the civilian state away from political wrangling.
Pulbished on:Sirte, 19 July 2022 (Lana) The leaders of the Libyan military have stressed their total and absolute rejection of a return to fighting between the sons of the same country, their rejection of violence, their full support for the civility of the state and distancing of the military from political wrangling.
This was stated in a joint final statement the leaders of the military issued at an expanded meeting they held in the capital Tripoli on July 18 and 19, during which they discussed many issues to determine the steps they agreed to put them into implementation.
According to the statement, it was agreed during these meetings to identify realistic steps to unite the military, based on its national duty and appreciation of the seriousness of the stage and the need for the country to unite.
The statement stressed the need to name one chief of staff of the military institution, and lay the foundations for exchange and consolidation of data and coordination of work between the chiefs of the qualitative staff and different departments, and to develop joint training programs according to the available possibilities.
During the Tripoli meeting, the joint force agreed in the ceasefire agreement was decided to be activated, and a plan was drawn up to begin border patrols from various border guard units to protect Libya's borders, prevent illegal migration, drug trafficking, organized crime and to combat terrorism within Libyan territory.
The statement praised the efforts of the Joint Military Commission (5+5) and its plan to continue to implement the outcome of previous meetings, including emphasizing the departure of mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces. The statement revealed that during these meetings a joint committee was set up, to follow up on the file of detainees and missing persons to reach practical results in this regard, stressing the need to move forward with the program of national reconciliation and the return of the displaced from all over the country to their homes.
