Norland and chairperson of the African union commission "Faki" discuss support for the reconciliation and identification of a new head of the UN mission in Libya.

Tripoli, 13 July 2022 (Lana) The US Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland discussed with chairperson of the African Union Commission Musa Faki in the Ethiopian capital ,Addis Ababa , the African Union's support for reconciliation ,security, and stability, and choice of a new special representative of UN Secretary-General as a head of UNSMIL.
After the meeting Norland said in a tweet published by the US Embassy ,"I was honored to meet in Addis Ababa with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Musa Faki, to discuss the important role of the African Union in supporting reconciliation ,security ,and stability in Libya ,which benefits the regional security of the African Union members and all countries beyond Africa.
"We also discussed efforts to select a new special envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, who can be effective and influential, and who can continue to facilitate the progress made under Stephanie Williams", he added.
