Al-Maadani condemns closing coastal road west of Sirte, and holds the UN mission and the 5 + 5 Committee responsible for it.
Pulbished on:Sirte, 6 July , 2022 (Lana) - The Mayor of Sirte Municipality, Mukhtar Al-Maadani denounced the process of closing the coastal road with dirt berms at the 60 km area west of Sirte, holding the UN mission and the "5 + 5" committee responsibility .
Al-Maadani demanded, in a video recording published by the municipality’s account on Facebook, the Misurata Municipal Council to communicate with the group that closed the coastal road to solve the problem, stressing that the coastal road is of strategic importance for all Libyans, as it connects the east with the west and the north with the south and the city of Sirte a middle ring.
The mayor of Sirte pointed out that the sick, the elderly, children, coastal road passers-by, merchants, fuel and gas transport trucks, and ambulances were affected, pointing out that the aim of closing the road was to isolate the city of Sirte. He said that the closure of the coastal road caused major problems for citizens, including congestion at gas stations, a shortage of gasoline in the city, and losses for merchants.
