Aboul Gheit: The political impasse in Libya may have dire consequences.
Pulbished on:Cairo, July 4, 2022 (LANA) - The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, "Ahmed Aboul Gheit", once again expressed his concern about the developments in the situation in Libya, warning that "the political blockage may have dire consequences for the country's stability."
Jamal Rushdie, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, said today, Monday, that "there is an understanding of the reasons that prompted citizens to demonstrate in various Libyan cities to express protest against the general situation in the country, especially in light of the aggravation of the political crisis, the lack of basic services, and the return of manifestations of The division in Libyan economic institutions.
The spokesman quoted the Secretary-General, "his complete rejection of the acts of sabotage and the destruction of public facilities of the Libyan state, as an assumed means by some to express protest."
The spokesman called on all political actors to "assume their responsibilities and initiate intensifying contacts among themselves to end the political stalemate," stressing "the Secretary-General's support for every effort that goes in this direction, and ends the state of frustration experienced by the citizen in Libya as a result of the failure of those concerned to complete the preparation of the constitutional basis necessary for holding the elections." Patriotism, which has become an urgent popular demand, is the only way to renew the legitimacy of all Libyan state institutions and end the current political impasse.
