Germany's special envoy to Libya affirms his country's opposition to any action that would lead Libya to more violence or division.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 4, 2022 (LANA) - The German Special Envoy to Libya "Christian Bock" welcomed the mediation efforts made by the United Nations Counselor "Stephanie Williams" and the United Nations Mission during the meeting of the heads of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State, which was held in Geneva.
"A far-reaching agreement on laying a constitutional basis would pave the way for presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya," Bok said in a statement published by the German embassy on its Facebook account today, Monday, adding that it is now important that the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council The state resolves the few remaining disputes quickly and in good faith.
Bok called on all political actors in Libya to maintain peace and stability, refrain from unilateral measures and constructively participate in the UN-led talks, stressing his country's opposition to any action that would lead Libya to more violence or division, such as creating Parallel institutions or any attempts to seize power by force, or the refusal of a peaceful transfer of power to a new executive authority created within the context of a legitimate and transparent process.
Bock also called for the resumption of Libyan oil production and the use of economic resources in a transparent, responsible and accountable manner throughout the country for the benefit of the Libyan people.
The German Foreign Minister had appointed the former German ambassador to Libya "Christian Bock" as a special envoy of the German Foreign Ministry to Libya.
Bock will represent Germany in international working groups and dialogue formats, as well as in the framework of the Berlin process on Libya, in which he made a significant contribution.
