Consultative meetings between Speaker of HoR and President HSC begins in Geneva.
Pulbished on:Geneva, 28 June, 2022 (Lana) - Consultative meetings between the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and President of the State Council, Khaled Al-Mashri, and the two delegations accompanying them, began, Tuesday, in the presence of the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Libya, Stephanie Williams.
The head of the media center for the Speaker of Parliament, Abdul Hamid Al-Safi, announced in press statements from Geneva that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, valued the important role of the UN advisor Stephanie Williams in resolving the Libyan crisis, welcoming the presence of the President of the State Council, Khaled Al-Mashri.
Al-Safi pointed out that "the meeting is an opportunity to reach convergence of views between the members of the committee in charge of the constitutional base, in order to reach a constitution that has the supreme say, and upon its rulings, all authorities come down to guarantee freedom, democracy, the establishment of social justice, the preservation of the civil character of the state and national unity among Libyans, and the will of The Libyan people are the source of power."
Al-Safi noted that the House of Representatives seeks reconciliation aimed at giving priority to reason, besieging desires, imposing social peace, dialogue and reconciliation based on strong and permanent foundations that deepen the spirit of dialogue among all components, as it is a condition of stability and the basis of consensus and reconstruction and solving the problems of the displaced, and those fleeing chaos.
Al-Safi added, "The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed his interest that the Libyan people choose their rulers without foreign interference in fair and transparent elections, to get out of the transitional phase so that there is no vacuum that terrorist organizations might exploit."
